The largest event of its kind in the Lower Mainland, the Winter Extreme Ski & Board Swap event typically takes place in two locations, one in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­in October and a second in Abbotsford in November. However, this year, only the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­event will take place. 

However, to friends coming from out of town, trust us when we say this event is well worth the trip with a can’t-miss catalogue of outdoor and winter sports brands on top of consignment opportunities. 

Exhibitors will include big names such as Helly Hansen, Westside Sports, The Board Room, Salvation Sales, Manning Park Resort, Big White, SilverStar, Discover Canada and Adaptive Snow Sports. 

Visitors can browse an extensive selection of new and gently used skis, snowboards, clothing and Nordic gear. Accessories such as ski poles, helmets, bindings, goggles, sunglasses and more will also be available.

On top of hunting for the best winter wear, the event encourages anyone interested to clean their garages and closets and . However, you’ll need to be quick! They will only take gear the day before the event begins, and pickup is after the event is closed. 

More specifically, the Canadian Ski Patrol is looking for your gently used skis (downhill or nordic), snowboards and boots. Gear should be no more than five years old and is subject to a routine safety inspection. 

Each item you’d like to sell will require the purchase of a three-dollar tag, and the Canadian Ski Patrol will retain a 20% commission on the final selling price. 

Suppose you’re really looking to go for gold and purge your collection - while picking up new stuff for yourself at the event! - In that case, those with 20 or more items to consign can contact the Canadian Ski Patrol’s sales manager for a consignment package. 

This package will enable you to register and tag your gear in advance and use the quick indoor drive-in drop-off service on the Friday before the sale.

A worthwhile cause

The Canadian Ski Patrol - Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Zone provides vital volunteer first aid services at Mount Seymour, Cypress Mountain, Manning Park Resort, and Sasquatch Mountain. 

Proceeds from the sales made at this event will go towards supporting the Canadian Ski Patrol and funding crucial initiatives, including first aid training, on-hill rescue training, first aid supplies, communications and maintaining assets. 

So feel free to browse for a new board, suss out some skis, or find your perfect fit with a new helmet. You can rest easy knowing that your hard-earned cash is not only going towards some righteous new gear, but a portion of it will also contribute to ensuring your and everyone else’s safety once you’re able to hit the slopes!
