Could gamma-ray exposure give anyone super strength?

Would superpowers change if our heroes landed on different planets in our solar system?
Is any of this really possible?!

Because there’s more to light than meets the eye!

This Spring Break, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre invites space enthusiasts and curious kids to find out how astronomers use visible light from the sun, infrared heat waves and x-rays to solve the greatest mysteries of our universe.

During this special Spring Break programming, visitors can take part in special interactive activities focused on the theme of “light”, and check out the Space Centre’s new Seeing! A photon's journey across space, time and mind show in the Planetarium Star Theatre. In this full-dome planetarium show, visitors will follow the journey of a single photon as it travels from a distant star across the vast expanse of space to land on someone's retina, which ultimately explores the astrophysical processes of the cosmos and the biology of the eye and brain. There will also be a new live demonstration called Invisible Light in the GroundStation Canada Theatre.

Programming will be running March 16th - 27th and the Space Centre will also be extending their hours over the break and will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. Special activities will be running from 11:30 am – 4:00 pm. All Spring Break activities are part of their general admission and are recommended for children ages 8-12 years old. No registration required.
