Try adding in some new, exciting, and different flavours into the mix!

This is what Healthful Eats, the newly-launched, Langley-based ready-to-heat-and-eat meal service aims to do by delivering health-conscious meals that integrate flavours from around the world in the Lower Mainland.

Using exotic spices and seasonings, mouth-watering marinades, hearty grains, and nutritious vegetables, this new healthy food service draws from culinary inspirations across North Africa, China, Middle East, and Southeast Asia, to introduce Metro Vancouverites to dishes and tastes they may not have tried before.

Having completed the culinary arts program at The Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, founder Kathy Rastar is now following her passion for healthy recipes and ingredients through Healthful Eats.

The Healthful Eats menu incorporates current food trends while making modified versions of beloved favourite dishes. 

For instance, they can take a classic recipe like a Caesar salad and give it a lighter and more nutritive twist by adding in kale, grains, and tahini dressing with harissa croutons, as opposed to a heavy and rich mayonnaise-based dressings or parmesan croutons. As well, Healthful Eats modifies the traditional British Shepherd’s Pie by adding Asian seasonings and vegetables, including edamame and topped with sweet potato mash and black sesame seeds. 

With a diverse menu that caters to vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, and meat lovers alike, there’s options for everyone of all dietary preferences. Some of the vegetarian and vegan menu options include spiced bean bowl, cauliflower and tofu fried rice, beetroot salad, and the Healthful Grain salad.

Healthful Eats’ drink selection contains 80% less sugar than the average can of pop. The four refreshing flavours on the drink menu include a Blackberry Spritzer, Mango Iced Tea flavoured with hibiscus and vanilla, Blood Orange, and a Mango Cabana Lemonade.

For dessert, you can take your pick of traditional sweet treats that include strawberry shortcake, tuxedo cake, and cheesecake.

To keep the selection fresh, the Healthful Eats menu will be changed seasonally with new and updated menu items every few months, and in alignment with ​changing seasons and special holidays.​

By making regular alterations, such as changing dressings, vegetables and grains in salad recipes, Healthful Eats further instills adding greater variety into one's diet. Thus, the menu will never be repetitive and give you something to always look forward to!
