Craving some tasty Polish dumplings for dinner? Then you’re in luck! With thanks to , Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»now has a new company specialized in delivering classic and vegan pierogies handmade by a local Polish family.

More than that, Garmaz’s origin story is an inspiring example of a family pivoting during the pandemic to support not only their family, but also to serve their community through their love of good food.

Last December, the Kwiatkowski family acquired a small business. When the pandemic hit in March, the new franchise owners didn’t meet the qualifications for the small business supports for B.C. businesses.

So, the family of five decided to start a side business. Under Garmaz, which is “gourmet” in Polish, the Kwiatkowskis began making traditional-style gourmet pierogies in their commercial kitchen. Since their launch at the end of March, they have been delivering their pierogies to homes throughout Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and gaining new customers daily.

Using egg-free dough, Garmaz creates a fresh batch of pierogies every week, and they are available each day until the weekly batch runs out.

Garmaz has something for people of all tastes. Within their classic recipes, they offer tried-and-true favourites like the savoury potato and cheddar with bacon pierogies, along with sauerkraut pierogies for a truly authentic Polish dining experience. Plant-based eaters will delight in their vegan alternatives, such as the fauxtato & fauxmage pierogies, consisting of roasted cauliflower (to substitute potatoes) and housemade creamy cashew cheese.

For those with a sweet tooth, Garmaz also has dessert offerings, like the brand new blueberry pierogies. Serve it with whipping cream, yogurt, and other fruit toppings, and this seasonal treat will be a hit at your next picnic in the park.

Each pack is ready to make and serve at home—their easy cooking instructions can be found on their .
