With the emphasis on social distancing in our daily discourse, it can be easy to assume that life in quarantine is causing us to be disconnected from one another.

On the contrary, there are so many examples of people not only maintaining connection, but also building a solid foundation for stronger connections within our communities as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As our city collectively deals with this crisis, we want to document this unique period in Vancouver’s history with the help of those living through it right now.

In “Through Their Windows”, a new series on 鶹ýӳ, presented by TELUS, we will be showcasing personal stories about how the people of Metro 鶹ýӳare spending their days, spreading kindness, and staying connected while maintaining physical distancing during COVID-19.

If you have a story of connection during social distancing to share, we want to hear about it.

Tell us all about your unique experience and perspective during quarantine -- how you’re adjusting to this change in your daily routine, how you’re keeping occupied (teaching the kids, learning a new hobby, etc), and how you’re staying connected with loved ones and the outside world from your home.

Ryan Walter Wagner, the photographer behind the “Through The Window” photo sessions, will come to the residences of interview subjects to photograph them from outside their home at a safe physical distance—shooting them through their windows, on their balconies, or from their doorsteps.

Throughout all of the impacts and changes brought by COVID-19, one thing remains constant - our need for human connection. This time will provide a constant reminder of the power of staying together, even while apart, in times of crisis.

To submit your story for consideration, send us an email at [email protected]

We will select a few individuals to interview and feature in an individual story as part of our “Through The Windows” series throughout the month of May.
