Buy me some peanuts and…
3ft hot dogs?
Well, that’s how the song goes at Nat Bailey, home of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Canadians, one of the most beloved sports teams in all of B.C. Since 1951, have brought smiles to the faces of countless fans, and for good reason—the Canadians offer locals the opportunity to experience a classic day at the ballpark with some fun, hilarious and absolutely delicious add-ons that you’ll only find at Nat Bailey.
Fortunately, everyone’s favourite baseball club is back and raring to go for the 2023 season, which kicked off on April 7 at Nat Bailey Stadium (tickets are available ).
And while the baseball is great, there are so many reasons to attend a Canadians game this year.
Including the food.
There’s no average stadium fare at a Canadians game, instead, you’ll find great twists on ballpark classics, such as their signature 3ft long hot dog—The Yard Dog (yes, it’s actually 3ft long). As our resident food expert , this dog is more than just a gimmick, it’s also a really good hot dog. It’s big, it’s juicy and it’s easy to share.
Of course, there are also burgers, fries, mini donuts, tater tot poutine, rotating sandwich options, home-base-sized pretzels and vegetarian options galore. Nat Bailey is the only place where you’ll find sushi in the stands as well as on the field. That’s because one of the most fun parts of Canadians games are the Sushi Races.
Let us explain.
At the top of every 4th inning the Canadians’ Sushi Mascots; Ms. BC Roll, and Mr. Kappa Maki go head-to-head against the sinister Chef Wasabi as they round the bases in a fierce competition for sushi supremacy. It sounds silly and that’s because it totally is. There’s nothing like cheering for your favourite sushi roll at Nat Bailey.
Ultimately that’s what we love about seeing the Canadians play—it's a fun, affordable and light-hearted atmosphere where you can create unique memories that will last a lifetime.
And if you haven’t been in a few years, guess what? The baseball is better than ever too. The Canadians signed a Professional Development League Agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2021, making them one of the 120 minor league baseball clubs across the continent that have accepted MLB's offer to become Professional Development League license holders. With that comes better resources and, of course, better baseball. As Canada's only official minor league team, the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Canadians are an absolute must for anyone with a passion for baseball.
They certainly keep things interesting at Nat Bailey – there are promotions and special events all season long, including evening fireworks, free root beer floats, baseball legends and regular charitable initiatives, which aim to raise money for meaningful organizations like Ride to Conquer Cancer, Big Brothers and Sisters, and the Special Olympics.
Coming to a Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Canadians game is affordable fun for the entire family. Whether it’s the Sushi races, food and beverage options, or fantastic baseball you’ll always have a great time at a ballgame at Nat Bailey Stadium.
