For Canadian students, a high school education at Bodwell is a chance to access quality without compromise.

Overlooking Vancouver's city centre and harbour, standout sits upon its waterfront campus in North Vancouver, B.C., presenting a vision to students that is as picturesque as it is promising.

Founded in 1991, it is a leading co-educational day and boarding school, offering International Baccalaureate (IB-MYP) for grades 8 to 10, and a B.C. curriculum for grades 10 to 12, as well as university preparation and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

With a campus culture focused on diversity and a shared pursuit of excellence, Bodwell brings together intellectually curious students whose distinctive backgrounds — from close to 40 different countries — make for a global focus, and a broadened multicultural experience.

Such students include alumni Dylan Tenbrink from Vancouver, who developed strong cross-cultural communications skills among Bodwell’s Class of 2008, which have helped drive his career forward.

In living and learning with many multilingual individuals, Tenbrink’s time at Bodwell helped shape his international communications approach. Today, he applies this perspective every day to his marketing work.

Personalized support leads to success

Bodwell students are continually guided by a counsellor from admission to post-secondary, following a personalized pathway plan for their unique needs and aspirations.

"Bodwell High School, founded in 1991, is one of a few private boarding schools in Canada that emphasizes an interest in the world," says Principal Stephen Goobie.

"For over 30 years, students have come from around the world to see what one of Canada’s most attractive cities has to offer."

For Canadian students, a high school education at Bodwell is a chance to access quality without compromise. Its graduates are prepared for competitive university programs, benefit from making lifelong global friendships and discover highly developed life interests outside of school.

This well-rounded result is achieved through highly individualized support and academic programs, driven by an expansive counselling and guidance team. 10 counsellors offer a student ratio unheard of among other schools.

Shawna Marie Beaudet, Class of 2005, credits Bodwell's approach of personalized support and its quality of teaching with helping her find confidence in school and, later on, with her life and career. Today, she's the owner of a multi-clinic cosmetic practice.

Scholarship program now available

Students seeking a place at Bodwell should be prepared to fully engage in the school's diverse and international environment, apply themselves in academics and co-curricular life and contribute positively to the school and local community as positive role models.

Highly motivated and academically strong qualifying Canadian students are invited to apply for a limited number of entrance scholarships for the 2024-25 school year. These scholarships are valued at up to $10,000 for day students, and up to $20,000 for boarding students, to help develop a new generation of Canadian students with international reach.

Setting students up for success

Bodwell graduates join a community of global, engaged, and motivated alumni who have proven success in their fields.

"One thing that really speaks to us is that approximately 98% of our graduates are accepted to a university of their choice and are in university for the next year," reveals Goobie.

Recent graduate, Sofie Lindberg, Class of 2021, credits her time at Bodwell with opening her eyes to the world: "It’s so strange to think about how much better off the world could be if those interactions that happened at Bodwell were amplified globally,” she reflects.

Lindberg is now the founder and leader of a social impact-focused consulting firm.

Bodwell works hard to create an open and honest channel of communication that supports the student experience in every aspect, from academic performance to life-skills development and community engagement.
