Okay, so driving west on Southwest Marine Drive through the endowment lands, right before you get to UBC there's a Scenic Viewpoint where you are provided with a view of the ocean leading east into the Fraser River and over to the airport. There's Gulf Islands back there, boats, planes flying by... and a ton of pilings that logs are jammed up and tied to.
The view is always fantastic, there's always something interesting down there to look at, and my question is... well, it's a few questions:
1. Do you know what the story is behind the pilings?
2. Where do the logs come from? Where do they go to and what happens when they get there?
3. If this part of the ocean is Crown land like I assume that it is, is there a private company leasing it from the government so that they can store their logs there?
