For the price of the most expensive house in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»you could buy this 'ranchland empire'

But no, there's no waterfront views of the ocean

Two of the three most expensive homes on Canada's real estate market right now are in Vancouver.

One is not, and its location might be a surprise, but there's a reason for the hefty price tag.

for $49.75 million (just $50,000 less than the current leader), the Kruczko Ranch in southwestern Saskatchewan has three houses on the property, but all of them are fairly modest compared to the two others.

The largest was built in 1979, is under 2,000 feet, and has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms), but that's not the reason for the price tag.

The reason is the land.

The property is 18,239 acres. To put that into context, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is about 28,460 acres.

This ranch is just about two-thirds the size of the city of Vancouver. In the city, it would essentially cover the entire land area from Boundary Road to Granville Street.

Technically it's 115 quarter sections of land (which are about 160 acres each); of those 91 are deeded and 24 are crown land.

And it's a working ranch.

All that land helps generate revenue in a couple of ways. For one, it's a ranch, which means lots of grazing space for herd animals. And with 18,000 acres it doesn't need to be a small herd.

At the same time, the property has gas. As in wells, which the owner has the surface rights to.

For those looking for privacy, the fact there are three houses shouldn't be an issue; they're not really neighbouring each other.

"The yards are all four miles apart so everyone can live independently and work together to continue the success of this ranchland empire," reads the ad.

To be fair, there are a few other properties in the same range or even more expensive currently on the Canadian market, but all of them are development opportunities for towers, entire subdivisions, or industrial land.
