One luxury waterfront mansion built into the rocky shore of West Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»that recently hit the real estate market is so exclusive it comes with a one-of-a-kind “boat garage” – and a 50-foot boat to go in it.
The five-bedroom, 16-year-old waterfront estate at 5363 Kew Cliff Road was recently listed for an eye-watering $26.9 million – the most expensive property currently for sale on the North Shore.
Perhaps that’s not surprising, however. When the property last sold in 2016 it smashed records at the time as the highest sale ever in West Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»at $20 million.
The mansion at this very posh West Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»address may be the most expensive, but it’s just one of several exclusive homes recently listed for around the $20 million price point in West Vancouver.
What will almost $27 million buy you in one of Canada’s most affluent postal codes?
Glad you asked. The answer is an “exceptional West Coast post and beam” 13,000-square-foot home featuring five bedrooms and seven bathrooms on three different levels. The property includes 4,600 square feet of terraced patios including an outdoor pool and hot tub, plus an indoor lap pool (and hot tub, in case you don’t feel like soaking outside), a koi pond at the front entrance and five-car heated garage. The piece-de-resistance for the nautical crowd is an indoor yacht “garage” that works on a trolley system, with private elevator access.
“That system takes about 10 minutes to launch a boat,” said listing agent Eric Latta of Sotheby’s International Realty, adding construction of the boat garage would likely never be allowed today.
The original house – designed and built by Lepik Construction – took about five years to build and cost around $2,000 a square foot, said Lotta.
“It’s a totally unique house,” he said.
The home, listed Feb. 20, sits on three-quarters of an acre of west-facing waterfront property.
Hollingsworth masterpiece
Another stunning home recently listed in West Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is a classically beautiful home designed by architect Russell Hollingsworth at 2576 Bellevue Ave.
Built about 28 years ago, this is the first time the property has been on the market. It was listed March 18 for $19.95 million
“It’s one of those homes you knew would be beautiful inside every time you walked by it,” said real estate agent Calvin Lindberg from Angell Hasman and Associates. “It’s a very rare home.”
Built in a classic West Coast Modern style, the four-bedroom, six-bathroom home sits on almost 21,000 square feet of property with 70 feet of waterfront – very unusual in a that kind of estate, said listing agent Brock Smeaton.
“It’s a really nice big property,” he said.
The home juts out from a small promontory, giving spectacular views.
“They’ve got unobstructed views south and east, and it’s incredibly expansively to the west,” he said.
The 6,300-square-foot home has been maintained in pristine condition, said Smeaton.
It doesn’t have fancy swimming pools and some of the techno gadgets of more modern designs, but the quality of the home in an understated style is unsurpassed, said Smeaton, featuring old growth fir and other touches not seen today. “It’s a piece of art,” he said. “They just don’t build houses like this anymore.”
The home is also in a prime location, just steps to Dundarave.
It was most recently assessed at a little more than $15.5 million.
3906 Marine Drive
Another home to recently hit the market close to the $20 million mark is another waterfront luxury home at 3906 Marine Dr. in West Vancouver.
Perched on a spectacular south facing ocean side bluff, this 6,100-square-foot 10-year-old home in West Bay was designed by favoured residential designer Craig Chevalier, and constructed by Goldwood Homes. The four-bedroom, six-bathroom home features an outdoor dining lounge and barbecue space and includes features like floor-to-ceiling windows, a temperature-controlled wine cellar, infinity pool, hot tub and heated patios.
It was listed April 2, and was last assessed at $12.37 million.
1123 Crestline
This 10,000-square-foot chateau in West Vancouver’s prestigious British Properties offers “luxury estate living” on a half-acre lot, with spectacular city and ocean views.
This home, which listed Jan. 3 for just shy of $20 million, sits on half an acre and includes six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, an office and a gym. Other amenities include a home theatre, bar, wine cellar, dry sauna & Turkish Hammam-style steam room. The one-year-old home just recently assessed for just under $7 million.
