A real estate listing is asking if people want to “own a piece of Downtown New Westminster history.”
The building that has housed the iconic Burger Heaven restaurant for the past three decades is up for sale at 77 Tenth St. for a cool $4.9 million. And the focus of the listing is on its potential to be redeveloped for a building up to 30 storeys.
“Own a piece of Downtown New Westminster History, the famous 'Burger Heaven' known for their '(B)un-Official' provincial and federal election poll including party leader burgers and serving up the most iconic burgers in Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»since 1984,” reads the listing.
The building is 1,786 square feet on a 4349-square-foot lot that is zoned as C-4.
“The City of New Westminster's OCP envisions a mixed-use, high-density development up to 30 storeys with a floor space ratio of 5.0. One of the last undeveloped commercial properties available in walking distance to New Westminster SkyTrain Station. Owner willing to lease back to continue to operate the business. Surrounded by High Rise Towers. Can be purchased with neighbouring commercial property 920 Agnes Street or by itself.”
Burger Heaven is known for its huge portions and items with unusual ingredients, such as a burger topped with perogies or the Ernie’s Mile High that has eight patties totalling three pounds of meat that sells for $65.99.
As the listing says, Burger Heaven is also known for its burger polls during elections in which people eat a burger designed to represent a certain party.
