Photographs that were made on film should be given a little extra recognition.
I am not a purist and I am absolutely not saying that digital images are inferior but there is something to be said for an image which has be taken from a piece of material that was actually physically present at the moment in time which the photographer decided to make a record of. It's a fast fading art. When I was at university, studying photography, ours was the last class that was going to be taught to shoot film. That is a crying shame. It makes me sad to think that future generations (increasingly, even the current one) of image-makers may never step foot in a darkroom or experience the goosebump-inducing joy of seeing the image they had conjured in their minds appear on paper, thanks to chemistry. It still amazes me that this thing that changed the way that people see the world, that has an omnipresent and insanely diffuse effect on our daily lives can be contained in tiny plastic cards and computer chips instead of boxes in cupboards.
So, for taking the time and effort to carry on a tradition and for showing us your world in medium format, thank you . I'm not totally sure where this image was made but I can get a pretty clear idea of how there might have felt that day.
