I spent a good long time living away from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and have visited a fair few different cities and countries and everywhere I've been, I have come across one of these fellows. They travel well and crop up in the most unexpected places, the Canadian answer to Amelie's gnome.
Up until now all that I've known about the inukshuk (the preferred Inuit spelling actually being inuksuk) was that it represented Inuit people somehow, was fashioned out of rocks and made me smile. These structures were (are?) in fact used as navigational aids or message boards and the word inuksuk means to "" and are not to be confused with the human-like stone figure, the inunnguaq, which translates as "."
