LOCATION: Fisherman's Wharf, Victoria, B.C.

December will mark three years since I relocated with my wife and daughter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Vancouver. In that time we have tried to experience as much as possible of what 鶹ýӳand South Western B.C. have to offer from camping and fishing to snowboarding and hiking but the one thing that I have always wanted to experience but could never bring myself to dole out the cash was whale watching.

Well thanks to my parents who visited us last week from Detroit and ponied up the (or should I say ) we finally broke our high-seas cherry as well.

Thanks Guys! ;-)

PLACE:

I have to say that this experience would not have been as awesome were it not for one fantastic recommendation by the concierge at The Empress in Victoria. She convinced us that the best Victoria had to offer came at the hands of and man was she right! Our Captain Dave and Naturalist Vanessa were simply the most engaging and entertaining crew money could buy and their Scarab-style boat made the four-hour-tour as smooth and comfortable as an ocean liner. I am not kidding, I could not imaging bouncing around on the high seas for four hours strapped down in a rubber Zodiak. This boat had 1,000 horse power, comfortable padded bench seats and even a marine head! If you EVER have the chance do not hesitate to patronize Eagle Wing, I promise you won't regret it!

“Rock Sausage” basking in the sun.

An Orca from “J Pod” cruising the waters off San Juan Island with Mt. Baker in the distance.

My daughter Gabrielle and I smiling for the camera as we set out from Victoria Harbor.
