The entire thing isn't technically in Vancouver/the Lower Mainland but coming up on the Olympics the has gotten (and is continuing to get) a facelift and some more lanes making it perhaps not in BC anymore. To me, one of the most awesome things about living in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is the accessibility to the great outdoors and the Sea To Sky is one of the few major arteries that leads into the smaller veins of some of the most amazing destinations around here. SO... over this spring and summer I'm going to be introducing you to some of the most awesome spots off of the Sea To Sky on the way from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»to Whistler.
First off is Porteau Cove Provincial Park. Located just off the Sea To Sky, 38 kilometers north of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and 20 kilometers south of Squamish, it's a campground, diving spot and the perfect place for a picnic.
As you drive in you're greeted by the picnic spot...
This is an "emergency ferry dock" which I think is a backup for Horseshoe Bay, which you pass on the way to the Cove...
Unfortunately for me there's no fishing at this spot but if you are into scuba diving you are officially really, really stoked as there's man made reefs and wrecks that they've intentionally sunk for divers to explore...
No fishing allowed but I don't think there's a rule against flipping over rocks and checking out the baby crabs...
Some awesome "birdhouses" in the park that won't be visible in a couple of weeks after the leaves fill in...
