Looks like Vancouver's hot button plastic straw ban issue has an unexpected supporter of sorts in Jimmy Fallon--and it's linked to Canada's esteemed Stanley Cup.
Earlier this week, the "Tonight Show" host had 2018 Stanley Cup champions Alexander Ovechkin and Braden Holtby on to talk about the Washington Capitals' historic victory. The trio were joined by Triple Crown-winning jockey Mike Smith to take a celebratory drink from the Stanley Cup.
"I've got some paper straws," offers Fallon to the group for their sipping.
Well, this segment got a big nod of approval from the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Aquarium, who are advocates for reducing ocean plastic pollution, and who are vocal supporters of a ban on disposable straws in Vancouver.
On Twitter Wednesday, the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Aquarium gave the sports champs and Fallon a big thumbs up for using paper straws:
Add "ocean" to the list of things these guys are of—paper straws! Cheers to that and Mike. ?Â
— Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Aquarium (@vanaqua)
And, hey, look who took notice! Fallon quotes the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Aquarium in his reply. "Oh yeah. It’s PAPER straws or NO straws."
Oh yeah. It’s PAPER straws or NO straws. ?
