So here's something crazy: at 8:36 this morning I out a link to a photo I shot at the 's annual gala. It was of a man in a suit casually walking out of the Convention Centre West with a chainsaw over his shoulder. He had just won it in the silent auction and instead of getting them to send it to him, he took it right off of the table and hauled it back to his car (or maybe a cab? I'm not certain on this point). But that's not the crazy thing. I mean it is pretty crazy and awesome but the thing that happened next is an almost impossibly crazy coincidence.
About a half an hour after I tweeted the link to the photo (which only showed Chainsaw Man from the back) I received a press release via email, with the subject being that Eastlake Campus had just donated $5,000 to the Pacific Salmon Foundation. "Sweet!", I exclaimed as I opened up the email which had a tiny accompanying photo of the president of and some other dudes holding up the cheque made out to the Foundation that I love so dearly.
"That guy looks familiar" I thought to myself, then turned to my phone where my other photos from the gala were stored. I got to one that I shot of Chainsaw Man before he left, standing with one of my fellow members of the gala's organizing committee, . And guess what? The president of Adera, Kevin Mahon, is chainsaw man!!!
Below is the press release about Adera and Sun Life's donation. Make no mistake, I am so happy they're giving money for conservation like this, but I am absolutely thrilled that we found the identity of Chainsaw Man!
