Since 2009 my little family and I have been Capilano River Park in North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»semi-regularly to enjoy the trails and poke our heads in to the hatchery there. One week ago there were that BC salmon could be in trouble due to a continuing drought that started with the driest August and September ever recorded, so when the rain finally started coming down a couple of days ago I knew it was almost time for a visit to this gem as I hoped to see a couple salmon returning. What I didn't expect to see was the river higher than I've ever seen it before - so high that the viewing platform has been marked off bounds because it's almost under water - and thousands of salmon through the viewing windows. But Mother Nature always does have a way of correcting herself, doesn't she?
Here's a quick 15 second video of a bunch of the hatchery salmon returning up the ladder from whence they came.

You should go and witness this for yourself. It's incredible, and it's FREE. For the official info on the park go .
