This Thursday, January 1st will mark the first day since 1992 when people insuring their cars in the Lower Mainland won't have to first take them to an centre and get them tested/certified to make sure they meet emissions targets. Back in 2012 the government announced they'd be phasing out the program, not because nobody gives a crap about the environment but because auto manufacturers have slowly been building cars that are more and more efficient and less polluting over the years, and the service has become redundant.
