People pooping on Squamish trails prompts installation of porta potty "Adventure Hubs"

Locals have been increasingly complaining about human feces on local trails and a lack of facilities and parking for visitors.

It might be more pleasant to head out to some of our local trails soon, thanks to a District of Squamish and School District 48 collaboration.

In an effort to mitigate these neighbourhood and environmental impacts, the District has installed four Adventure Hubs near popular trailheads to offer off-street parking and washroom facilities. Each hub includes a bike tool station and porta potty. Three hubs are equipped with a bike wash.

All hubs close at 10 p.m. daily.

School District 48 has provided access to two school parking lots to be used outside of school hours.

  • Don Ross Middle School, 42091 Ross Road, Lower Parking Lot
  • Bottom of Legacy Climb, Mamquam Road above Quest University Canada (does not include a bike wash as there is no running water available at this location).
  • Garibaldi Highlands Elementary School, 2590 Portree Way
  • 2458 Mamquam Road Parking Lot

Please note, parking at the schools is not permitted during regular school hours, Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm.

Users of the hubs can provide feedback directly to the District at 604-815-4040 (24-hours).
