Did you have a chance to read Charlotte Gill's novel, , which was one of our Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Book Club featured titles a few months back? In it she brings you into the life of a BC tree planter, which is one of the most challenging yet rewarding, strange and almost cult-like occupations in the forestry industry in this province. She spent years "researching" for her book (working as a tree planter) and I thought it might be the most authentic and closest glimpse we'd ever be afforded of this culture. That was until yesterday when I was introduced to Mat Caissy and his project, .

Mat is going into his sixth year as a tree planter and has laid down 600,000 trees as a reforester since he started. He's leaving to go back to the forest in a couple of days time and he wants to plant one of the 100,000 trees that he'll plant this year in your name! Simply fill out the form on his web site and choose the date on which you want him to plant for you and he will plant the tree, name it after you, take a photo and send it to you. You'll be that much closer to being a tree planter yourself, replacing trees that were cut down during the cycle that one of our most sustainable industries has been going through for decades. Fill out the form .
Then get even closer to Mat's life and work as a tree planter by bookmarking his and following him on and Instagram where he's @CaissyInTheWoods.
