Yesterday we brought you a Mike Howell piece about the latest person to throw their hat in the ring for the mayor's job come October 20th.
Former Conservative MP Wai Young, who held that position during the Harper era, made a speech in front of a small crowd of reporters and fawning supporters gathered outside city hall.
In a campaign reminiscent of the NPA's unsuccessful attempts in 2011 and 2014, she's promised to rip out bike lanes. The one on Cambie and the one under construction on 10th Ave will be razed under her watch, and she'll stop the paved Kits Beach path from being constructed.
There are three things I would like to note:
1. Young's speech was made from atop what looked like a Victorian era footstool.

2. The person live tweeting from her account is in need of a spellchecking app.
During her speech, somebody on Wai's team was tweeting out what she was saying... or at least the spirit of it.
asked if we had noticed an increase in "homliness", which I will assume was translated from "homelessness".
Her Twitter feed also let us know there are no good reasons to remove the "geogia viaduct".
3. Young was involved in protests against the temporary modular housing complex for homeless people in Marpole. Here's hoping she sharpens her pencil up before tackling the "homliness" issue.
