A fun activity in the summer in a city as vibrant and touristy as Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is to people watch.
With local characters, visitors excited about Vancouver, or just the random happenings that occur in a city this size, there's lots to watch if you're paying attention, as long as you choose the right spot.
V.I.A. recently conducted a poll, asking readers to choose which of seven bustling Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»neighbourhoods is the best to people watch: Kitsilano, Denman Street, Mount Pleasant, The Granville Strip, Robson Street, Commercial Drive, or Granville Island.
Polling responses are broken into local and total votes; normally it's pretty close but this time there was a bit of a split.
Locals' first choice was Commercial Drive, with more than a quarter of the vote. In second place for locals was Granville Island, with a respectable 23 per cent.
The overall vote reversed that, with Granville Island getting more than a quarter of the vote, so there seems to be some disagreement between Vancouverites and readers from elsewhere.
However, everyone agreed on third place, with Kitsilano getting around 17 per cent.
The top three spots dominated the poll with about two-thirds of the vote any way you cut it.
The bottom four saw some division between locals and the overall vote, again.
For locals, Denman Street is fourth, followed by Robson Street, Mount Pleasant and the Granville Strip in last.
The overall vote had a different idea, with Robson in fourth, followed by Denman, the Granville Strip and Mount Pleasant in last.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» polled 1328 readers and asked the question: Where's the best place to people watch in Vancouver?
The poll ran from 6/9/2024 to 6/26/2024. Of the 1328 votes, we can determine that 591 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:
Results are based on an online study of adult Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» readers who are located in Vancouver. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 2.69%, 19 times out of 20.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» uses a variety of techniques to capture data, detect and prevent fraudulent votes, detect and prevent robots, and filter out non-local and duplicate votes.
