The goal that will be forever in our memories

Did you know that the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»2010 Olympics organizers brought in outside help from the USA to work as the organist during the hockey competitions?

It's true.

Los Angeles resident  was chosen to do the job partly because he's both a music director as well as an organist, and I caught up with him this past baseball season at Dodger Stadium.

Ruehle works for both the and the organizations as their music director and organist, and his early inspiration was Nancy Faust - the White Sox organist who adapted the 1969 pop hit "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" for the organ. It's been used at games ever since.

I asked him for some of his best memories of the games, and he noted that he remembered honking the goal horn after Sidney Crosby's goal in the gold medal game for what felt like "at least 45 seconds."

Looking back on it as a proud fan, it felt like an eternity. A wonderful, amazing, once-in-a-lifetime moment.

But in reality, the horn only sounded for a little more than 11 seconds.

Those seconds will be burned into the collective memory of our country forever.

Thanks, Dieter!
