BIG BRAS D'OR, N.S. — RCMP say they are now investigating the recent disappearance of a Cape Breton woman as a homicide.
Police confirm that human remains found by a police dog team Friday in Big Bras d’Or, N.S., have been identified as those of 48-year-old Natacha Leroy.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Leroy’s death a homicide on Wednesday.
The Mounties say they initially responded to a report of a possible homicide at a home on Route 5 in Big Bras d’Or on Nov. 22.
Police say they learned that Leroy had disappeared and they determined that the circumstances around her disappearance were suspicious.
Few other details have been released, however police say they have searched and secured the home.Â
