HALIFAX 鈥� A 14-year-old in Halifax is facing charges after he allegedly stole a car and crashed it into a bus shelter during a police chase.
Halifax Regional Police say the charges include motor vehicle theft, dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight from a peace officer, and breach of probation.
Police say they received a report of a stolen car from Barrington Street in downtown Halifax on Tuesday morning.
A short time later, RCMP officers saw the stolen car in Sackville and attempted to stop it but the driver fled.聽
Police say officers tracked the car to the 100 block of Herring Cove Road and used a tire deflation device to slow the vehicle's speed as the driver continued to 鈥渦nnecessarily put the public at risk.鈥�
The driver continued on for a short distance before striking a bus shelter and power pole, after which the car's two occupants fled on foot and the driver was arrested.
