A man wanted in connection with a shooting west of Meadow Lake on Nov. 23, 2019, was arrested and is being held in custody.Â
Lennex Merasty-Morin, 31, is charged with 13 firearms-related offences after two men were allegedly shot while they driving east near the intersection of 7th Avenue and 5th Street West. The driver, 32, had a single gunshot wound to his back and the passenger, 50, was also injured.
According to Meadow Lake RCMP, they went to the hospital and obtained information from the victims who told police the suspects fled in a white four-door car.Â
Police noticed a white-four door Chevy leaving the City of Meadow Lake on a rural road and tried to stop the vehicle. The driver fled. Police pursued and the driver of the vehicle lost control and crashed into a bush on Range Road 610.Â
Police arrested four of the occupants of the vehicle, including Richard Angus, 38, Corey Bouvier, 30, Joshua Matheson, 26 and Charley Seright, 25. They were charged them with flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.Â
No firearms were found in the vehicle and police issued a warrant for the arrest of Lennex Merasty-Morin. RCMP have since arrested Merasty-Morin and he is being held in custody.Â
He reappears in Meadow Lake Provincial Court for a bail hearing on Feb. 24 via CCTV.
