A local father of two young children has been identified as the person who was killed in a tragic accident at a McDonald's drive-thru in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»this week.
On Wednesday (Sept. 8) at around 5: 30 a.m., Tony Eyles dropped an object out of his vehicle while paying for items at the McDonald's drive-thru at Main and Terminal streets.
When he went to pick it up, the vehicle rolled forward, colliding into a structural piece of the restaurant; he was unable to free himself and was pinned between the vehicle door and frame, explains a release from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police.
Two fundraisers have been launched since Eyles' passing. He is being remembered as an amazing husband, father, friend and coworker. Organizers ask that you give his immediate family space at this time.
"I know that money will not change what happened but I am hoping that we can at least help the family out through this hard financial time," reads a campaign.
"You will be missed Tony, truly a great guy."
As of this writing, nearly $60,000 has been raised between the two campaigns for his family.
The VPD’s collision investigation unit and BC Coroners Service are now investigating.
Anyone with dashcam footage who was driving in the area at the time of the incident, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident, is asked to call investigators at 604-717-3012.
