Woman found dead in Gastown home deemed Vancouver's third homicide victim of 2020

Police say they do not believe there is any risk to the public.

A woman was found dead inside her Gastown home Sunday morning, and authorities are calling her death the city's third homicide of 2020.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Police were called to the scene at 112 Water Street at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when paramedics were unable to revive the woman.

The victim is a 45-year-old woman.

While the victim's death has been deemed suspcious and no arrests have been made, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Police say in a statement that they do not believe there is any risk to the public.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone who may have information about this case is asked to contact VPD’s Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Vancouver's first homicide of 2020 was that of a 62-year-old man was beaten New Year’s Day in Oppenheimer Park and who died the next day in hospital.

The second homicide is that of a man who was found deceased in the parking lot of Marine Gateway Complex near southwest Marine Drive and Cambie Street just this weekend.
