Shaundrea Janette Lynxleg returns to court Jan. 23.

A woman is facing assault charges in connection with a Jan. 19 Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»attack on a stranger on top of existing charges following a hammer attack on another stranger.

Shaundrea Janette Lynxleg, 27, appeared in Vancouver's Downtown Community Court on Jan. 20 to face charges of assault and assault with a weapon. The charges stem from an assault on a woman at the Pender Street and Abbott Street Tim Hortons.

Staff at the coffee shop confirmed there had been an incident involving a customer unhappy with their order. The person had been part of a group, the staff person said.

Defence lawyer Tim Ochitwa told Judge Patrick Doherty that Lynxleg, who sat quietly in the enclosed prisoner’s dock, would return to court Jan. 23. She will see a doctor on the weekend as she has been remanded in custody.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department (VPD) spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin said an assault near Abbott and Pender streets is being investigated.

"As the victim was walking in the intersection, the suspect assaulted her," Visintin said. "Officers were able to locate the suspect and make an arrest. The investigation is ongoing."

Lynxleg is already facing charges of assault with a weapon after a 33-year-old Coquitlam woman was attacked from behind on Sept. 25, 2022. The victim was walking with friends on Seymour Street near Pender Street at the time of that attack.

Before the friends could intervene, the suspect allegedly hit her over the head with a small hammer. The victim was taken to hospital.

VPD officers arrested a 27-year-old suspect nearby and recovered the weapon.

Lynxleg has also faced another charge of assault with a weapon as well as theft under $5,000.
