The 15-hectare fire is burning at the 17.5-mile area of the Squamish Valley Road, according to an .
The BC Wildfire Service has informed The Chief that the blaze does not pose a threat to people or structures.
A spokesperson said this fire was presumably caused by humans, as there was no lightning in the area.
The exact circumstances are still under investigation.
A crew was on site Monday afternoon, with 10 more firefighters on the way in the evening.
SLRD emergency program manager Sarah Morgan said that a helicopter was on scene Monday bucketing the blaze.
Morgan said the fire is burning uphill away from residences, so there’s no need for an evacuation alert. She added that no residents are in danger from the fire.
However, she noted there may be smoke in the Squamish Valley Monday night and Tuesday, and possible air quality issues that may reach Squamish.
