Would-be thief throws hot soup in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­senior's face

The suspect faces multiple charges, including assault with a weapon

A 70-year-old woman tried to stop a would-be thief, who threw a cup of hot noodle soup in her face.

A 70-year-old woman was injured this weekend when a would-be thief allegedly threw soup in her face at the shop she worked at.

The incident occurred in a downtown convenience store Sunday night, Jan. 8. The suspect was in the store where the woman worked.

"The 70-year-old victim was injured when she tried to stop the would-be thief," states the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Police Department. The suspect, who was carrying a cup of instant noodles, allegedly threw the soup in the woman’s face and on her clothes."

The suspect, only described by police as male, fled the store after throwing the soup. However, a witness quickly called the VPD.

Police arrested him nearby a short time later.

"The suspect appeared in court Monday," state police. "He was charged with assault with [a] weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and theft. He was then released on bail by the courts."

The woman is still recovering.
