Update: Victim identified, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­police looking for homicide suspect

Police aren't sure if the city's 10th homicide or the year was a random or targeted attack.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­police have identified the victim in the city's 10th homicide of the year.

Police received a 911 call from a witness around 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 2 after a 37-year-old man was attacked near Renfrew and Graveley streets. 

The man was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

In an update from the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Police Department (VPD) on Jan. 5, 2023, the victim was identified as Zhuowen Gong.

“It is unknown at this time what the motive was for this stabbing, and whether this was a random or targeted incident,” says Const. Tania Visintin. “Until we know more, we’ve encouraging people to be extra vigilant.”

No arrests were made and a suspect has not been located yet. 

Officers believe the suspect is a man about 6-foot tall with an athletic build. He was was last seen wearing black clothing and running north on Renfrew Street.

The incident is still under investigation and police are asking anyone with information or dash cam footage between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m. in the area of Graveley and Renfrew on Nov. 2 to call 604-717-2500.
