VIDEO: VPD investigating assault sparked by maskless confrontation

The assault resulted in the store manager allegedly being spat on and receiving a cut to his head

In a video and photos released by the VPD, the suspect appears to to be in his 20s and has dark skin with dark short hair.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect who assaulted a man after being confronted about not wearing a mask in a convenience store.

The incident took place on Thursday, Dec. 17 just before noon at a 7-Eleven store near Alma Street and West 10th Avenue. The suspect, who had a small dog, wasn’t wearing a mask and when the manager asked him to put one on, the man allegedly spat on the store manager while yelling profanities at him.  by the VPD shows the suspect knocking the manager to the ground and hitting him all while holding his dog. 

“Investigators have exhausted all leads to locate the suspect and are now turning to the public for help,” said Constable Tania Visintin with the VPD. “A witness told police that the staff member and suspect were involved in physical altercation after the suspect was told to take his dog out of the store and put on a mask. Unfortunately the store manager sustained a cut to his head during the assault.”

The suspect appears to be in his 20s and has dark skin. He is about five feet ten inches with a medium build with dark short hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing black Kapa shorts, a black t-shirt, a light-coloured hooded sweater and black running shoes.
