There may be signage directing beach-goers to maintain a safe, two-metre physical distance from one another, but a number of photos taken at Vancouver's beaches over Mother's Day weekend have some people questioning if the rule is being followed.
While some videos and photos show small groups of only a few people or less separated by considerable space, other images appear to show large crowds. In some pictures, it seems like people aren't even distancing at all. With this in mind, the angle the pictures are taken at can affect the way the distancing appears.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has stated that British Columbians can start to expand their social bubbles. However, she asks residents to give pause - to expand their bubbles slowly and thoughtfully. In other words, large groups are still not permitted, and "less faces, open spaces" is still the way locals should approach socializing.
