This may be the happiest day in Canada.
A nostalgic store is making a comeback early next year and Vancouverites, like other Canadians, are elevated at the news.
Hudson's Bay Co., who owns the discount chain, announced the return of Zellers on Wednesday (Aug. 17), revealing plans for a new e-commerce website and brick-and-mortar stores within select Hudson's Bay department stores. Their debut is slated for early 2023.
Zellers quickly skyrocketed to first place as a trending term on Twitter as many Canadians across the country and in Vancouver reacted to the news. (We also shed a happy tear, wearing our of course).
"This is a Canadian heritage moment," tweeted one user. Meanwhile many Vancouverites share high hopes for the return of the Zellers restaurant.
Meanwhile, one Vancouverite appears worried about being let down.
Another, however, hopes for the best.
Someone also shared a nostalgia-inducing photo from the good ol' Zellers days.
All the hype around the Zellers comeback leads one Vancouverite to predict a frenzy during the first few days of opening.
One Vancouverite, however, is still taking in the news.
