Vancouverites won't have to grapple with any subzero temperatures or snowfall this week — but they won't see a great deal of sunshine, either.

Following a couple of major winter storms that wreaked havoc on B.C.'s roads, airport, and transportation network, temperatures have climbed back up to seasonal averages.

But there's a great deal of wet, gloomy weather in the days to come, according to Environment Canada.

Starting on Wednesday (Dec. 28), the forecast includes a 40 per cent chance of showers during the day and a 30 per cent chance of showers overnight with a high of 7 C and a low of 3 C. On Thursday, periods of rain are expected throughout the day.

Rain is forecasted to continue through Friday, with a 60 per cent chance of wet weather overnight. On Saturday, however, locals may have the chance to enjoy some sunshine with a high of 8 C. The overnight forecast is also calling for cloudy but dry skies.

The sunny reprieve isn't expected to carry on through the weekend, as Sunday's forecast includes the chance of showers throughout the day. Monday's forecast also looks dreary and wet, while Tuesday is expected to see rain.
