Locals looking for a sunny reprieve this week may finally be in luck.
While a "strong low" has drenched the Lower Mainland with ample rainfall over the past couple of weeks, Environment Canada calls for a great deal of sunshine over the next several days.
Starting on Wednesday, Jan.18, however, more rainfall is expected to fall until about noon, with wind gusting up to 30 km/h. The skies will begin clearing overnight and Thursday is expected to have a mix of sun and cloud during the day with a high of 5 C.
While Friday is also expected to have a mix of sun and cloud, the overnight forecast includes rain. And while Saturday may see showers on and off throughout the day, the overnight forecast looks clear. That said, those clear skies will mean temperatures could drop down to 1 C.
Sunday's forecast includes bright sunshine during the day with cloudy periods overnight and a frigid low of -1 C.
Heading into next week, locals should expect more dry days and colder nights, with lows dipping down around freezing.
