Traffic has been reduced to one lane between Granville and Hemlock from April 7 to 12, 2025, due to work on the Broadway Subway Project.

Commuters driving down a portion of West Broadway this week may experience significant delays due to construction.

The City of 鶹ýӳnotified drivers that traffic has been reduced to one lane on the busy thoroughfare between Granville and Hemlock due to ongoing work on the Broadway Subway Project.

Two eastbound lanes on West Broadway between Granville and Hemlock streets have been closed. Eastbound traffic has been moved into the westbound fast lane, maintaining one lane in each direction, according to the B.C. Transportation Ministry.

There will be no access through the laneway to West Broadway. However, a pedestrian detour on the south side of West Broadway will maintain access between Granville and Hemlock streets.

The lane closures will be in place daily until 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 12.

Locals should expect more trucks, equipment, and workers in the laneway east of Granville Street during the work. Additionally, some "noisy activities" are required after 10 p.m.

Drivers will also face delays on West Broadway between Oak and Laurel streets on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. due to lane reductions.

The city advises motorists to "watch for and obey traffic control personnel and all signs and plan extra travel time." They may wish to avoid these areas of West Broadway, if possible.

Students and faculty headed to UBC will be able to take the 99 B-Line from Arbutus station to the campus.

The new underground line is expected to open to the public in the fall of 2027, although it has experienced prior opening delays (the city planned to open it in 2025 and then later, in 2026).

Crews are working at various times at all six stations, with a current focus on "building the six new stations, installing SkyTrain tracks, and completing the interiors of the tunnels," according to the .
