The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department (VPD) uses social media to help keep the city's streets safe.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police are sharing another road safety video to prevent accidents on the city's streets.

The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department (VPD) has released a video about how pedestrians should safely use crosswalks that features Social Media Officer Jason Doucette.

In the video, several people attempt to walk or jog across the crosswalk as the number begins to count down and Doucette points out that it is only safe to do this when the person is featured on the crosswalk sign.

Not only is it unsafe for pedestrians to start crossing if the number is counting down, but it also doesn't provide drivers with an opportunity to make a turn if the light is changing quickly.

"Traffic signals are set up to keep us safe and to keep traffic moving. Not following the rules can be dangerous, clog things up, and lead to frustrations," wrote Doucette in a Twitter post.
