The VPD are appealing to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect in a Chinatown stabbing.

The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department (VPD) says it has identified the man who was last weekend.

Just after midnight on Feb. 6, police found the victim, 32-year-old Nikolai Sugak, "gravely injured" near West Pender and Carrall streets. He died shortly after from his injuries, according to a news release.

The VPD said its investigators believe Sugak was "stabbed in nearby Shanghai Alley by a suspect who fled the area" but are still working to determine if there was a motive.

“Our homicide investigators have collected important evidence, and while we now have a better understanding of what took place, we still need anyone with information to come forward," notes Const. Tania Visintin.

The VPD encourages anyone with information to contact police.

“This is a neighbourhood that sees a lot of vehicle, bike, and pedestrian traffic at all hours of the day, and we believe there may be witnesses or people with dash-cams who have important information that could help us solve this crime,” adds Visintin.

Anyone with information is asked to call VPD Homicide investigators at 604-717-2500.
