Last night, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» shared a story about Meghan Markle's visit to the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre on Tuesday, Jan.14.
And while the Duchess of Sussex has been spotted a number of times in B.C. recently, the Downtown Eastside may not have been the first place people expected to see her.
The women's centre shared an image with the royal, exclaiming "Look who we had tea with today!"
"The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, visited us today to discuss issues affecting women in the community."
The article has received a whopping 422 comments since it was posted last night, and has been shared 421 times. Although many readers were excited about the recent royal visit, a number of others are skeptical. And, of course, some were not happy about it at all.
Have a look at what some of V.I.A.'s readers had to say:
"Harry should run for Prime Minister hmm 🤔 ? Does he speak French? Just kidding 😜... How nice, Meghan’s out and about. I hope people will be respectful enough and give them their privacy."
- Naan Aravel
"I hope she dropped off some gloves or scarves. The awareness for this centre is already there and thousands of kind, caring people donate regularly, without the fanfare. If she REALLY wanted PRIVACY, she could have said no photos."
- Lili Wong
"Good on her! Lending her star power to DTES women's centre! Bravo!"
- Karen Pacheco
"I feel a little bit ashamed, because when I heard Meghan flew to Van from Victoria, I thought maybe she wanted to do a bit of shopping. Here is some info about all the many charitable works and military service Harry has done. I think the addition of this young family to BC and Canada will make us a little bit better."
- Sue Montgomery
"Way to go, Meghan Markle!!! Your effort to come to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»to meet with these women and this organization is much appreciated. So hopeful you will be able to spend lots of positive time in B.C. !!"
- Barbara Wells
"Dear Canadians, For those who are excited and welcoming the royal to live in Canada. I hope you realize that the PM is now discussing on using our hard earn tax payer money to get these people securities. How are you going to feel about that once your taxes had gone up because of them? So much for wanting to live independent financially?"
- Krista Luney
"She isn’t even a royal what is all the hype about."
- Rebekah Moore
"No. We are better than the British paparazzi. These two will be brilliant ambassadors for the UK and Canada if we leave them alone! Respect their peace and privacy. I think it’s fantastic Meghan is out and in public. She has nothing to hide from, or be ashamed about. Now do the right thing Canadians and stop running media click bait and sound bytes about these people every five minutes. Leave them be ffs. Live and let live."
- Fleur Stephanotis
" Hundreds of people give their time to visit shelters every day, without publishing their pictures, or flying there on Harbour Air Charter. Most Canadians will not be fooled. I hope."
- Gerda Koch
"Much respect to her and thank you for caring about our most vulnerable sisters."
- Tracy MacRae
"Give them both a chance to show who they are without the Royal yoke. Too soon to judge people."
- Christine Kitteringham
"She looks soo much more comfortable in snow boots."
- Liz Calderwood Wiebe
"Yes !!! Already she’s making an impact ! Welcome home honey !!!"
- Andrea Wray
"Gee why couldn’t she have dropped by when we dropped off all the gift bags? Maybe next time."
