Firefighters responded to a blaze in an East Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»home on Sunday, Oct. 15 morning.

A fire broke out in the basement suite of a residence at 1761 Argyle Street at 7:32 a.m., Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Fire Rescue Services Acting Assistant Chief Mike Anzulovich told V.I.A.

Thirty-two firefighters were dispatched to the working fire and blocked off Argyle Street in both directions.

Two people were upstairs when the fire broke out and one was downstairs. However, they were all outside by the time the fire crew arrived.

No one was injured by the blaze and firefighters were able to knock it down within minutes of arrival.

While the fire was confined to the basement, the suite "was fully burnt," said Anzulovich, who added that old houses don't tend to have sprinklers.

The street was blocked off for a couple of hours after the fire was put out. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
