Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Fire and Rescue Services (VFRS) say a second-alarm fire caused extensive damage to a townhouse complex and prompted a traffic closure on Cambie Street early Monday (May 30) morning.
Firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at 6601 Turnberry Cres just before 6 a.m. after the VFRS received reports of smoke and flames at one of the townhouses.
VFRS Asst. Chief Richard Warnock told Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» in a phone interview that a section of Cambie Street was closed between 49th and 57th avenues to allow the crew to battle the second-alarm fire.
While there were no injuries to people, there was extensive damage to the townhouse unit. In addition to a "fully-involved" car and garage, the fire "worked its way into the actual townhouse unit and the fire was in the rafters," he added.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters responded to a second alarm fire on Friday (May 27) in the morning in a house located at 7726 Ash St. in South Vancouver.
Warnock told V.I.A. in a previous interview that the fire crew had difficulty battling the blaze because multiple cars drove over one of the supply lines.
"We had multiple cars going over the charged fire lines and we did have a partial rupture," he explained, adding that the firefighters lost the supply of pressure and had to go defensive for a while.
The assistant fire chief asks that drivers avoid driving over fire hoses and notes that they can get slapped with a fine for doing so.
Warnock added that "numerous cars had driven over it" before someone ruptured it.
