Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»firefighters responded to an overnight fire on Saturday (Nov. 19).
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) Fire Chief, Karen Fry, shared on Twitter that crews "were on scene overnight at a stubborn fire in the 1400 block of E 1st Ave."
Assistant Chief Nock tells V.I.A. that the second alarm fire started just after midnight. "It was a two and a half storey home," he says.
Nock says that the building was vacant at the time of the fire except for a few "squatters" that were in the building. "We had a previous fire there," he adds.
Despite icy and cold conditions, VFRS crews were able to get the fire "under control and protect the neighbouring buildings," says Fry.
