A resident at Vancouver’s Haro Park Centre has been diagnosed with COVID-19, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Coastal Health announced Wednesday.

Located in the city’s West End, Haro Park Centre provides independent housing, assisted living and residential care.

“Outbreak control measures have been put in place at Haro Park Centre,” the health authority said in a press release. “Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Coastal Health’s Communicable Disease Control team is working with staff at Haro Park Centre to identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all residents and staff.”

Residents are being monitored closely for symptoms and, the health authority said, “standard infection control measures are effective in protecting staff from infection.”

Visits to the facility are being restricted to family and caregivers only.

“These precautions prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses and are standard approaches used in care facilities during seasonal influenza outbreaks,” the health authority said.
