Want to borrow a dog for a bit to read it some poetry?

If so, there's an upcoming event for you.

The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Public Library is bringing back the  on Sept. 17, when people can check out a dog using their "bark-code" and read it some poetry.

"Come to John Hendry Trout Lake Park and sign up to borrow a dog from the Canine Library," the library says on its website.

Once you've checked out a furry friend you'll have 15 minutes to read it some thoughtful words.

The dogs participating are from the St. John Ambulance therapy dog program and are tasked with providing people comfort and companionship.

"The pup lineup will be announced as soon as they calm down from all of the excitement," notes the library.

For those as into poetry more than pooches, the library's poet laureate Fiona Tinwei Lam will be on site and holding a poetry workshop.

The event is free, open to families and adults, and will take place rain or shine. will happen on-site at the time of the event. Kids 14 or under will need to be accompanied by an adult.
