The third annual Tour de Concord is returning to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»this year with races for everyone from young kids to professional athletes.
The massive full-day cycling event will feature a new 900-metre lap for racers to test their mettle on. The new route is fully contained on the Concord Pacific Place property at 88 Pacific Blvd, meaning fewer disruptions to traffic, as well.
The race is twinned with a free family bike festival, that will have a beer garden, food trucks, bike vendors, free bike safety checks, and tune-ups. The 529 Garage program will be there as well, for people to register their own bikes with the theft recovery system.
"Kids aged 6-12 are encouraged to bring their own bikes and see how it feels to take a lap on the closed course prior to the Tour de Concord Criterium," states a press release.
Spectators will be able to watch the races as well, trackside.
"These races are fast-paced and exciting to watch," says Cycling BC CEO Erin Waugh in a press release. "The riders in the elite categories can get up to really high speeds at very close proximity to each other as they jockey for position to win prize money, points, and bragging rights."
There will also be a charity race, with 10 teams competing for a $5,000 donation to the kids' charity or organization of their choice (there's already a waitlist to participate).
Registration for the race is through Cycling B.C. has opened for the free family festival, which grants people entry into the festival and enters people into prize draws.
