Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»police say they've arrested a man who was illegally selling illegal drugs from a mobile store in the Downtown Eastside.
Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for "drug trafficking in connection with an illicit drug dispensary" who began selling items in the DTES on Wednesday (May 3) night.
The VPD’s Organized Crime Section has launched an investigation after "the suspect started selling cocaine, crack, methamphetamine, and heroin out of a mobile trailer parked near Main and Cordova streets."
"We support measures aimed at improving public safety for people who use drugs, including harm reduction services and decriminalization,” says Cont. Tania Visintin.
“However, we remain committed in our position that drug trafficking will continue to be the subject of enforcement.”
Two vehicles, body armour, and Canadian currency were seized by VPD investigators as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect was released from custody pending his next appearance in court. The VPD says he is forbidden from returning to the Downtown Eastside as per the conditions of his release.
Incidentally, a 51-year-old man who operates a mobile shop selling illegal substances called The Drugs Store, set up his dispensary at the same location mentioned by police. The VPD would not confirm if it was the same man, and charges are pending for the man who was arrested.
