Richmond RCMP are asking the public to come forward with information regarding a physical altercation that took place in an underground parking lot.

Dashcam footage shows a group of young males from the perspective of the parked vehicle in an underground parking lot. Two males are on the ground fighting in the centre of the group, and a number of onlookers are filming the altercation with their cell phones.

The dashcam time and date stamp indicate that the event took place just before 5 p.m. on Jan. 25, 2020.

Posted on YouTube by MJ Installs, the video, entitled "Dash Cam Records Chinese New Year Brawl," has been viewed 272 times. The poster notes that the incident took place in the underground parking lot of the Richmond Center Mall.

"It's not every day your dash cam catches a brawl break out, let alone one that occurs on Chinese New Year," writes the poster.

"An even more rare scene given I was installing a dash cam into the brand new 2020 Mercedes GLB in the background at the time. By the end of the video I noticed what was going on and asked the boys to quit horsing around."

"Had something have happened to my car - this would have been great evidence as the faces in the video are clear and I recognize some of the adolescents in this video in the food court often."

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» spoke to Cpl. Adriana Peralta about the video, and she stated that the Richmond RCMP do not have a file open for the incident.

"We currently do not have a file open for this incident, but we are encouraging the public to come forward with any information," she remarked.

Anyone with further information about this incident is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 or, if you wish to make an anonymous report, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or .
